Weekly Memo- Monday, August 3, 2020
Good Afternoon Live Oak Families,
Can you believe we are only 1 week from the start of school for the 2020-2021 school year? School starts on August 11th. School will start with distance learning for all students, even if you chose the hybrid model, not students are allowed to come to campus physically until we are given the ok by the governor and the health department. We have no idea when that will be. Registration for the CVC (Castaic Virtual Campus, virtual instruction all year) is closed. The district office had to determine staffing and are currently making classes. If you wish to change to the CVC model, you will be put on a waitlist, and your child will be assigned to a Live Oak teacher. When we start school next Tuesday, both programs will be almost identical until we are able to go to the hybrid model.
School Material Distribution: Next Monday, August 10th, we will be distributing school materials to students, such as text books, basic school supplies and Chromebooks (if needed). All students, whether you have chosen the virtual academy all year or the hybrid model, will be picking up supplies according to the schedule below:

TK/ Kinder- 8:00 to 9:00am

1st and 2nd grade- 9:00 to 10:00 am

3rd and 4th grade- 10:00 to 11:00 am

5th and 6th grade- 11:00 to 12:00 am
Back to School Night- Our Back to School Night will take place virtually on the evening of August 10th. Your child’s teacher will email you a link to join their live presentation through Zoom on the 10th. There will be an opportunity for you to ask questions at the end of the presentation. If you are unable to watch one of the virtual presentations, some teachers will be recording them and you may view them at a later time or they will be setting up a time to talk with you personally to make sure you have the information needed to start the school year off. Here is the schedule for the evening:

TK/K- 5:00 to 5:30pm

1st and 2nd grade- 5:45 to 6:15pm

3rd and 4th grade- 6:30 to 7:00pm

5th and 6th grade- 7:15 to 7:45pm
School Calendar: Our school calendar for 2020-2021 has not changed from the one released in the spring. I am attaching a copy here for your reference. 2020-
Rise Child Care: Registration for the RISE Student Learning Center (full day programs) is now open. The Student Learning Center will operate from 6:30 a.m. to 6:15 p.m. for the duration of the distance learning model. The Center will be at Castaic Elementary and have a TK-1 classroom, a 2-3 classroom and a 4-6 classroom. Students will be able to participate in their synchronous learning with their teachers, as well as get help with online assignments, videos, reading, etc. They will have access to Chromebooks and district wi-fi. Groups will be small- no more than 15 in a classroom, and all safety protocols will be observed. For more information, parents can access www.riseafterschool.com/cusd
School Lunches: Once school starts, school lunches will again be available for pick up from school each day by drive through. We will be providing all families a sign with their student’s name and lunch number with their school supplies. Please place this in your car windshield when picking up lunches. Lunches will be provided at the regular cost, unless you qualify for free and reduced lunch. Please visit the School Day Cafe website for more information. www.
