Catching Up with Castaic Union School District

The Castaic Union School District is home to three elementary schools, a middle school and serves approximately 1,900 students. While there has been a drop in enrollment, Bob Brauneisen, CUSD superintendent, said students are offered a more personalized approach to education.

Brauneisen shines a spotlight on the Castaic Learning Initiative for Mastery and Beyond, or CLIMB, which addresses the need to raise stagnant student performance.

The superintendent also shares updates on bond projects meant to modernize and renovate school campuses, including improvements to Live Oak, North Lake and Castaic elementary schools.

Moreover, CUSD welcomed two new principals – Erica Bowden at Castaic Elementary and Daniela Rizzo at Live Oak Elementary. Brauneisen takes pride in knowing many former CUSD students return to the district as teachers.
