Gotta read ‘em all!

“Once you learn to read, you will be forever free.” - Frederick Douglass

Welcome back to school for another wonderful year. I am looking forward to a fun year getting the students excited about reading and understanding what they read.

All students should be reading the AR books that are in their reading level.
I will have a participation party at the end of the year. All of the students that fall into these guidelines will be invited to the end of the year Celebration. The party will celebrate the students that participate using the following point scale:

All 1st Grade Students that reach 10 points

All 2nd Grade Students that reach 20 points

All 3rd Grade Students that reach 40 points

All 4th Grade Students that reach 75 points

All 5th Grade Students that reach 100 points

All 6th Grade Students that reach 125 points

The AR board in the library will be reflecting, by grade, those students that have reached the above participation guidelines.
The library will only be available for students to take AR tests during their normal library time and lunch time on Tues. and Thurs. On occasion students may come into the library to take AR tests if the teacher has cleared it with the librarian.
Author Visit
We were very lucky to have Author Dow Kump visit Live Oak in February.  His assembly was fun and informative. He talked about his two books, Project-00 and Secret Agent 44, and How to Become a Star Writer.
