The Castaic Union School District (CUSD) Board of Trustees held a special meeting of Governing where they appointed a new board member earlier this month due to a vacancy.

The Castaic district’s board members selected Vincent Titiriga, a senior water treatment operator with the Santa Clarita Valley Water Agency, to represent Area D, which was vacated by board President John Richard’s resignation from the governing board earlier this month.

School Board Member John Richard has tendered his resignation from his seat in Trustee Area D of the Castaic Union School District Board of Trustees, effective June 2, 2023. The Board of Trustees has voted to make a provisional appointment to fill the vacancy.

The application and information are now available on the District website, under the District & Board tab. Deadline for the submission of completed applications (delivered to the District Office) is Thursday, June 1, 2023, by 4:00 p.m.

Castaic Union School District is currently accepting applications for a provisional appointment to Trustee Area D as the current Trustee Area D Board member, John Richard, is moving out of state and has tendered his resignation, effective June 2.

“Applications must be filed at the District Office no later than 4 p.m., Thursday, June 1, 2023,” according to the district’s website. “Only the application and resume will be considered. No letters of support and/or recommendation are needed and will not be part of the file.”

Another special board meeting is scheduled for 5 p.m. June 7, when the board will conduct interviews with the qualified applicants. The board also announced it would let candidates know of their scheduled interview time two days prior to the meeting.

For the upcoming school year 2023-2024 the age requirements have changed for Transitional Kindergarten (TK). The new age requirements to attend TK, a child must be 5 years old between Sept. 2, 2023 and April 2, 2024. Kindergarteners, a child must be 5 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2023.
We will be having a tour scheduled for March 30, 2023 at 2:15 pm for incoming new students.

The acting superintendent of the Castaic Union School District (CUSD) is set to take the position officially come July.
